Allergy season is here! The allergy season is predicted to be longer and more intense this year. Many students are suffering with the respiratory symptoms associated with seasonal allergies. Here is some helpful information for parents trying to deal with sneezing, congestion, and itchy eyes.
http://kidshealth.org/parent/medical/allergies/seasonal_allergies.html#cat132 Vision and Hearing Screening All 7th Graders and students new to PWCS are required to be screened for vision and hearing issues. These screenings take place in the Fall of each school year. Parents/ Guardians are notified in writing of deficiencies.
Required for Entry into Middle School All rising 6th graders must have a TDAP booster for Middle School entrance! Parents should consult with their physician or the PWC Health Department as their student turns eleven and have this booster as soon as possible. PROOF of immunization must be forwarded to the school. Students without proof of this vaccine cannot attend middle school and will be excluded from school until documentation is received.

Health Promotion:
As we are entering the cold and flu season, this is a reminder of the best health practices to decrease the spread and transmission of viruses in PWCS schools.
Please remember to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and throw used tissues in the trash. If you don't have a tissue, cough, or sneeze into your elbow, not your hands. Wash hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds, dry hands with a paper towel, and use the paper towel to turn off the faucet. If soap and water are not available, hand sanitizers may also be used to preform hand hygiene. Remember to stay home when you’re sick until at least 24 hours without a fever or the use of fever reducing medicine. Together we can help stop the spread of germs that may make you and others ill.
