Academic Career Planning
7th and 8th Grade Parents please read the letter below.
Your student recently created an Academic and Career Plan. This is an important milestone in his/her secondary school journey in Prince William County Public Schools. This plan was created with the support of their middle school counselor. Students were asked to consider their interests and abilities as they relate to the world of work. Your student selected a potential career cluster and career pathway as part of this process. Your student will update this plan again during high school. We know that career goals and interests will likely change over time. However, the goal is to help middle school students begin to think about the future. On the back side of this letter, you will find a list of the Virginia Department of Education Career Clusters and information about other helpful resources for you and your student.
As a final step in this process, we ask that you electronically “sign” your student’s Academic and Career Plan. This can be done by navigating to the Prince William County Public Schools website at www.pwcs.edu on either a computer or mobile device. Once on the site click the PARENTS tab on the left hand side of the page, click “Career and College Planning” under “About Your Student”. You will see the ACADEMIC AND CAREER PLAN on the left hand side of the page. Click the link to access the plan and type in your student’s PWCS Student ID Number. When you enter the plan, you will be able to review what your student has completed. You will need to type your name in the correct area at the bottom of the form and type the date. This will serve as your electronic signature. If you have further questions about the Academic and Career Plan, please do not hesitate to contact your student’s middle school counselor.
