Monica Santa Ana

I am excited to return to teaching after a long absence! I graduated from the University of Texas in 1992 with a degree in English and a secondary teaching certificate.  At Kennedy High School in San Antonio I taught 9th and 10th grade English and I coached basketball, softball, volleyball and track.  In Ohio I pursued a Master's in Literature at Wright State University  and I taught writing to the college freshmen. As an Air Force officer's wife I have moved 12 times and lived in many different states. My husband and I have 8 children ages 21 to 4,  plus teenagers who stay with us. We have been married for 27 years. I am now proud to be a Graham Park Lion!

All 3rd Quarter make up work and test retakes are due by April 24th.

Home Learning Opportunities

The school has created a daily class schedule for students (below).  All work is optional but highly encouraged.
I will provide a Language Arts assignment each week. It is best for students to check their email every day for messages and information from teachers. I
also encourage students to look at the useful links on my class page (top left in the gray box) and on the GPMS homepage. It is very important for students to read every day!!!

You can go to the PWC Library website to check out digital books. The link is on my class page. You can virtually check out book and download it to your device. You can preview books and you can check out more than one. Students can practice writing and answering their own questions about the books or material they read, or they can take a “Virtual Field Trip” and then write about it. Look for the virtual field trip link to the left.

I also recommend IXL for students to practice specific reading and writing skills. Students can get tIXL by logging in to Office 365 (, clicking on the waffle (dots in the upper left corner), clicking on Clever, then clicking on the IXL link

Students can view educational videos in Discovery Education The link is on the GPMS home page under “Students.” They log-in with their student email address (including the and their password.

Many additional websites are currently offered for free due to the pandemic. I added some links for you to the left under my name.
I plan to check my email a few times each day, so please feel free to email any questions. I love to hear from the kids and I will always do my best to provide information and assistance.
