LA Keep Calm

Greetings GPMS Parents and Students,

We hope you are well and continuing in the GPMS ROARing to Excellence Spirit! Please review the useful websites and resources on this class page below and on the GPMS homepage. Also, please see the links to the bottom of this page to click on Standards of Learning objectives that were taught during the 2019-2020 school year in Language Arts. Choose either link to view quarterly or weekly. We know your child/ren’s academic progress is important to you. We pledge to provide suggestions and internet links to help you keep your child/ren engaged.

It is often helpful to establish a routine at home. The best thing to do for now is to continue reading and writing. Establish a time at home for practice in each subject. If you have a public library card, you can go to the PWC library website to check out digital books. You can virtually check out a book and download it to your device. There are not any late fees because the books are returned automatically. You can preview books and check out more than one.

Parents, please encourage your child/ren to read at home every day. They can also practice writing and answering their own questions about the books or material they read. While this is optional, it is recommended to foster continued reading and writing in the area of Language Arts.

PWCS also provides many online educational websites and tools to all students. We recommend IXL to practice specific reading and writing skills. It also serves as a review, reinforcement and enrichment of previously taught Language Arts content. Students can get to IXL by logging in to Office 365 (, clicking on the waffle (dots in the upper left corner), clicking on Clever, then clicking on the IXL link.

In addition, students can view educational videos in Discovery Education.  The link is on the GPMS home page under “Students.” They log-in with their student email address (including the and their password.

Many additional websites are currently offered for free due to the pandemic. We added some links for you to continue reading and writing while at home. See the following websites and resources below:
